Jennifer Melissa MacKay hails from the village of Waverley, Nova Scotia. Following a BSc Hon in Psychology from Saint Mary's University, Melissa completed her law degree at Dalhousie University, graduating in 2008. Melissa enjoys all things related to swimming, having grown up lifeguarding and swimming competitively. She continues with this hobby today, coaching the Charlottetown Special Olympics Swim Team. Melissa is also involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
